Welcome to The University of Sheffield Staff Cricket Club's Play Cricket website. This is now our main web-site. Please feel free to add us to your bookmarks!
Our Club was founded in 1953 and endeavors to provide cricket for players of all standards, abilities and availabilities. We run two sides in the Yorkshire and Derbyshire League (Divisions I and V) and one in the Irwin Mitchell Alliance Midweek League Division A. In addition, we offer numerous playing opportunities through friendly fixtures against local and touring sides. In 2008 we will offer a more comprehensive set of Sunday non-league fixtures. Further playing opportunities are available via Fir Vale Cricket Club, with whom we have historically enjoyed close links.
Current annual Club subscriptions are £50 for waged players and £20 for student and unwaged members. Juniors (under 18s)are welcome and pay no membership fee.
Match fees for the 2007 season will be £10 waged, £5 unwaged, for the first XI, £8 waged, £5 unwaged for the second XI and £4 waged, £3 unwaged for midweek evening matches. At weekends juniors will be expected to pay a £3 fee to cover the cost of their tea.
Our site includes Club news, contact details, fixture information, match reports, statistics and the occasional photo.
In 2007 we received very generous support from the Senior Common Room Club (SCR) and from the University's Department of Student Recruitment, Admissions and Marketing (SRAM). We are extremely grateful for this kind assistance and always welcome expressions of interest from potential sponsors.
We hope you enjoy our site.
